IT'S STILL COLD IN DAVIS AND I'M STILL IN THE LIBRARY.

James Franco is going to get his PhD in English Literature at Yale.
Also, he wrote a short story for Esquire.
Yay, English majors?!

let's try this recipe soon! <3>
Kyle and I have gone through all of season one and one disc of season 2 in the past... oh, 3 days or so. LOVE THAT SHOW.

JUST ORDERED:
So... I just found some proof of my journalistic sell-out days (as in, 2-3 years ago), and this is one of the lovely magazines that I had some freelance work in. You don't want to know what I wrote about (plastic surgery and diet methods, mostly), but ISN'T IT RIDICULOUS?! ASIAN WOMEN'S MAGAZINES, OH MY GOD.This article on Thao Nguyen was probably the only redeeming thing in the whole issue. Too bad that wasn't the one I wrote. Oh well -- still love her.

Some Camille Saint-Saens Goodness
My god, I just realized that the Beauty and the Beast score ripped off of Aquarium SO MUCH.
I just finished making banh xeo for the first time! It was a long and arduous process, involving about 3 million ingredients (just like every other delicious Asian dish, go figure), BUT SO WELL WORTH IT. And delicious. Now I'm inordinately tired and I just want some relaxation. So I'm thinking that this is what the rest of my evening shall look like:

Jealous?

goals, oh goals
I'm super rusty and I was never really any good at piano anyway, but I'm determined to learn how to play this:
Hey, that's what Spring Break is for, right? Geeking out and slowly (painfully) getting reacquainted with my dear, neglected piano.
I also just googled Justin Bieber due to some vaguely related article that was on my Google Reader. Dear God, I'm getting so old -- I've never even heard of this kid. Also, I think he looks like he's five years old, but y'know, he's the latest tween sensation. Or something.
LONG TRAIN RIDES HOME
to San Jose are my favorite things ever. I set up in a window seat with my laptop, some music, a bran muffin with raisins (!!!), and of course, my good friend Peep.
Peep says hi!

and so do I! (and my forehead says, "hello world, I am on display for once.")

I was playing with Peep/kicking ass in Plants vs. Zombies the entire train ride and also getting awfully judgmental looks from Sir Bored Hipster Reading Vonnegut (who was sitting across from me) and Mr. I'm Reading "The New Atheist" Yet Wearing a Rosary OMG I'M SO IRONIC (who was sitting across the aisle from me). Yuck, AWFUL PEOPLE. Now I am home and I am happy and I am going to go drink more water and look for chocolates to eat.
WINTER QUARTER IS OFFICIALLY OVER. Finally, what a sense of relief! Best of luck to everyone who still has finals and HAPPY SPRING BREAK!!!!

slowly (and painfully) gonna go through my possessions and throw things out. the clothing is the worst part by far. in the next few days, i swear, i shall be getting rid of things that i no longer need. i just tossed about five (six?) items of clothing into the discard pile and that was painful already!
i am SUCH a pack rat :(
My cousin: "JESUS. You're looking more and more like your mom every day."The scary thing is, I'm absolutely capable of seeing that now. Same coloring, same face shape (more or less), same hair (down to a slightly wavier right side of the head...)
My mom's birthday is in less than two weeks! I bought her a new spring coat and I think I shall take her out for tea at one of those incredibly cheesy faux-Victorian places where all the china is antique and the servers are dressed in maid outfits and the sugar cubes come in little silver bowls on fancy trays. Yes. Sounds perfect.
Oh yeah, here's a song that always reminds me of my mother.

JUST CONFIRMED:
I'm going to be in Asia for the first time in my LIFE from July 9-23. Very exciting and a little frightening. We start off in Thailand, which will be nice because it's more touristy and I'll have a chance to acclimate a little before catching that flight to Saigon, which I'm sure will be overwhelming in about a million different ways. Everyone's gonna know I'm Viet Kieu and try to pickpocket/scam me -- I know it!
Nonetheless, I'M SO EXCITED. Motherland, I shall finally get to see you! :)

It's a Saturday night before the week of my certain demise and I have just gotten home from my little brother's VSU (Vietnamese Student Association) performance. It was such a throwback to high school -- it's strange because I've been so removed from that "scene" that it's very foreign to me. High schoolers are so homogenized! And I don't mean that in a disparaging way or anything; god knows I was there once. But my brother hangs out in the crowd of hip, cooler asians (as opposed to nerdy future engineer asians, I guess), and all of them look exactly the same. The girls are almost certainly going to end up in sororities, with their matching little dresses, high heels, and long curled hair. And the boys all dress exactly like my brother does (fitted dark jeans, cool sneakers, v-neck tee shirt, a light jacket). It's so silly!
Anyways, I'm about to start pulling my hair out but I just have to keep reminding myself to breathe and that it's just one week of absolute hell. JUST THE ONE! We will survive it. It also helps that my mom is packing me lots of food to bring back to Davis. I'm eying the tray of bbq ribs in the fridge.
Oh yeah, and my MacBook is wondrous and I love it to death. It's such a change of pace from my poor, dying VAIO that was down to 30 min of battery life without the charger.
OKAY. Cranking out at least 7 pages of writing (in any of my various projects/theses/papers) before I allow myself to fall asleep. Oh boy, oh boy!

To-Do:
1. FINISH HONORS THESIS, KSLF;JWEKF;KSFLJ.
2. Pamela paper.
3. Poetry portfolio.
4. Poetry book report.
5. Prep for 2 interviews; find appropriate business attire.
6. TCS projects (in the multiples, yes).
7. Take my vitamins.
8. Shoot for at least 4-5 hours of sleep per night for the next week.
9. TRY NOT TO DIE.
Clearly, that was more for me than for anyone in the blogosphere who happens to be reading this. Needless to say, I'm sort of entering panic mode here, so forgive me if I become rather scattered.
MY DAD JUST BOUGHT ME A MACBOOK PRO. IT'S AWESOME. I'M AT HOME, HANGING OUT IN MY ROOM, LISTENING TO ELTON JOHN AND HANGING OUT WITH MAX (STUFFED DOG IN THE BACKGROUND), WHO'S BEEN MY BFF SINCE BIRTH. I've just spent some time doing nothing but listening to music, hanging up birthday decorations in my little brother's room, and hugging my parents. HOMESICKNESS = CURED. Now to tackle all those academic deadlines + interviews that are going to eat me alive in the next week...

It's a rainy day. I am incredibly exhausted/stressed/overwhelmed and yet giddy. I've been eating eggs and cheese non-stop. I have two internship interviews next week and I'm scared to death because I want things to add to my resume so badly.
I just went ahead and did some cleaning/purging in my bedroom. I found an ocarina, a "grow-an-Easter-bunny" package, a giant photo of a falcon, letters I never sent, and a fun pack of Play-Doh, among other things.
I don't want to do any work. I just want to cook, tidy my room, and do laundry. And maybe watch some "Pride and Prejudice." The six hour BBC version, of course. God, I've turned into my mother.
OH. I also found a bunch of stamps and some cute stationery packets. Once this godawful quarter is over, I'd like to get back into letter-writing again. WHO WANTS TO BE MY PEN PAL?!
[EDIT] Also, I miss everyone. Cousins, high school friends, my parents and brother. I'm terribly homesick today. :(
